I've reverted back to using the old Windows Media Player for creating a playlist. Groove does not back up drag and drop anywhere in the app. Sometimes I but want to drop some music into "Now Playing" playlist just groove does not have this feature.
Besides, groove takes up too much retention to run compared to WMP anyway.

Every bit always - Try to ignore ALL Microsoft default answers which is either faulty or a complete lie. Because MS Staff is normally clueless - they don't actually use MS stuff, just read from a database of answers that "can" work.
Microsoft Groove is the B team that wasn't allowed to pattern the Media Player - and so you lot understand how good it is . Merely similar Media Thespian won't play any common movie file format, neither will Groove play some common Music formats. And drag and drib? As well easy man - Why implement such a simple feature - when yous tin can have add by folder (that volition fk upwards and is terribly slow). or have information technology choose some path that no one is using.
Every bit much as I like Windows 10 (I do) I hate Windows Groove. Use something else. It will exist better even if it is from 1992.

Ya... that doesn't respond the question.
The respond to Elijah'southward question is: No, groove music player does NOT accept the very reasonable/simply characteristic present in its predecessor (windows media player).
Yous cannot create a playlist in "now playing" on the fly by dragging and dropping mp3. Instead they replaced elevate and drop with the following more inefficient method (probably so the procedure would be the across unlike devices).
1. Go to your songs tab
two. scroll the vocal you want and select it, it should become highlighted in blue
three. A play sign and and a "+" sign should appear adjacent adjacent to the song name
iv. "+" button allows you to add it to "now playing" or a new playlist.
you lot can relieve your "now playing" as a playlist
Only tin you lot convert groove into a minimal window likes in windows media player where it became a small window with just the bones buttons: play, pause, adjacent, repeat, shuffle, artist/song info.
Overall this is 1 of those interface failures - where they effort to unify everything withe lowest common denominator. despite the fact that PC, tablets & phones are inherently different so people interact and use them inherently different - so it doesn't brand sense that they should have the "same experience". Information technology does brand sense that core function/base line function and interface should be unified beyond devices, merely unlike devices should have slightly different branching in interface, e.g. PCs should have drag in driblet part. You know, designed with the keyboard and mouse in mind and not how what would be all-time if you could jab your non-bear on screen pc monitor.

Give thanks you, I idea i was the only one that thought Microsoft had lost the plot with the app department of windows 10.
The OS is fine, everything else is bugged to f*****r runs in a style that is totally incomprehensible to an English speaking adult.

Just because - here is a litany of inexplicable MAJOR FAILS of GROOVE music
1. It'southward only purpose seems to be to connect (annoy) with things Xbox and the online store. I am a 30 year Microsoft certified developer. I could give a rats patootie about xbox or the online store. This app needs an "I am an adult" option.
2. Now Playing is a completely wrong, anti-intuitive jumble of complexities if you are an experienced Windows developer/User.
3. No "undo" to changes in At present Playing list. This only matters if you are edifice a playlist in the laborious method bachelor. Then should accidentally click a footling too long on one vocal - or perish the thought- click on a song from the "anthology view". Information technology automatically supplants your At present Playing with the whole album without any prompt. Here is a clue. If I am playing something, clicking should Add it to the Now Playing non overwrite. There is an ancient rule in developing an app - before you wipe out someone's piece of work - Inquire!
4. No drag and drop or context menu back up. Non a big bargain if yous are 12, own twenty songs and use Groove from the Xbox. This feature is essential if you have a large music library. Being a music addict I have over 24,000 on my development box and music is essential to my work day. Effort scrolling through the complete works of Mozart to find a song by proper name. "No wait, it is the third track on Disk 84 I can just click in explorer and Drag it...." FAIL. "Ok, I tin right click on it and add it to Groove's now playing..." FAIL.
v. Unreliable meta-information. When I rip my CD'due south to disk I ALWAYS include consummate information almost the recording (Thank you Audiograbber!). More ofttimes than not instead of using what is available it uses some or none and fills in the blanks with errors.
The only solution I accept come up with is to do all your playlist building in WinAmp or Windows Media player and so allow Groove import them. Seems similar a lot of work for an app that the Windows business environment didn't need and I don't believe the user community wanted. And they wonder why I don't use Border or Cortana...
Just for reference - Microsoft products have been my career. I actually like and prefer Microsoft products. All the same I would put Groove and Edge somewhere about "Microsoft Bob" in relevance, insight and desirability.
